1)  Turn down.

 *   Meaning - Decrease the volume or strength.

 *    Example - Can you please turn the volume down.

2)    Come apart.

 *    Meaning - Separate.

 *    Example - The top and the bottom parts will come apart if you pull hard enough.

3)    Fall down.

 *    Meaning - Fall to the ground.

 *    Example - The men fell down the stairs.

4)   Get together.

 *   Meaning - Meet.

 *   Example - Let's get together for a party this weekend.

5)   Pass away. 

 *   Meaning - Die.

 *   Example - My neighbour passed away last year.

6)   Come from.

 *   Meaning - Originate in.

 *   Example - The man comes from africa.

7)   Hand down.

 *   Meaning - Give something used to somebody else.

 *   Example - I handed down my clothes to my younger brother.

8)   Not care for.

 *   Meaning - Not like.

 *   Example - I don't care for spicy food.

9)   Look out for.

 *    Meaning - Be especially vigllant for.

 *    Example - Make sure you look out for your brother.

10)  Get around.

 *    Meaning - Have mobility.

 *    Example - My grandpa can get around very well without a wheelchair.

11)  Wake up.

 *    Meaning - To stop sleeping or make somebody stop sleeping.

 *    Example - Wake me up before you go. I want to say goodbye.

12)  Clear up.

 *    Meaning - To make a place clean by putting things back where they should be.

 *    Example - Hasn't she cleared up her room yet? I've asked her to do that twice this week.

13)  Give up.

 *    Meaning - To let the police or your enemy catch you or somebody else.

 *    Example - He killed all of his family and then gave himself up to the police.

14)  Let down.

 *    Meaning - To disappoint somebody by not doing something you are expected to do.

 *    Example - I really need this report by friday, so be so kind and don't let me down again.

15)  Break into, Break in.

 *    Meaning - To enter a building by force and illegally in order to rob it.

 *    Example - Thieves broke into my house last night and stole my computer and TV!

16)  Hurry up.

 *    Meaning - To do something more quickly or to make somebody do something more quickly.

 *    Example - Hurry up or we'll miss the train.

17)  Settle down.

 *    Meaning - To start living a calmer and more organized life, especially after getting married.

 *    Example - The famous actor and heartbreaker admits that he's finally settle down.

18)  Look for.

 *    Meaning - To try to find something.

 *    Example - I'm looking for my mobile. Have you seen it?

19)  Find out.

 *    Meaning - To get information about something or to discover some facts.

 *    Example - I have just found out that he has lied to me.

20)  Run away.

 *    Meaning - To escape or try to avoid something ( e.g., responsibilities ).

 *    Example - Don't be a child ! You can't run away from your problems forever!

21)  Let out.

 *    Meaning - To let somebody or something leave a placeby opening the door, turning the plug, etc.

 *    Example - I felt sick, so I asked him to stop the car and let me out.

22)  Look after.

 *    Meaning - To take care somebody or something or to be responsible for somebody or something.

 *    Example - My parent's asked me to look after the family business while they're away.

23)  Look at.

 *    Meaning - To turn your eyes to see something or to consider something.

 *    Example - Can you look at this exercise? I can't do it myself.

24)  Look out, watch out.

 *    Meaning - To be careful in order to notice something or avoid danger.

 *    Example - Look out! The tree is falling.

25)  Put back.

 *    Meaning - To return something to the place where it was before.

 *    Example - Please, put things back after you have used them, or else you make a mess.

26)  Bring up.

 *    Meaning - To take care of a person until he / she becomes on adult.

 *    Example - She was brought up in a large family.

27)  Have on.

 *    Meaning - To be wearing something, ( e.g. A Hat, A T-Shirt ).

 *    Example - She had on a light blue dress and looked very pretty.

28)  Put down.

 *    Meaning - To put somebody or something onto the floor, table, etc.

 *    Example - Put it down! It's too heavy for you!

29)  Take away.

 *    Meaning - To remove or to subtract.

 *    Example - What will you get if you take 5 away from 15?

30)  Pass by.

 *    Meaning - To go past something or somebody, ( e.g., a building or a person ).

 *    Example - I passed by a hotel and a gas station and finally I saw the right house.

31)  Break down.

 *    Meaning - ( about a machine, etc. ) to stop working.

 *    Example - oh, no! The printer's down again!

32)  Go back, Come back, Get back.

 *    Meaning - To return ( to a place ).

 *    Example - I forgot my wallet and I had to go back home.

33)  Sit down.

 *    Meaning - To take a seat, ( e.g., on a chair ) or to show a seat to somebody.

 *    Example - I can see your're upset, sit yourself down and tell me all about what happened.

34)  Get on.

 *    Meaning - To enter a bus, train, etc.

 *    Example - I nearly missed that train so I was very happy when I finally got on it.

35)  Go away.

 *    Meaning - To leave a place or a person and move to another direction or to disappear.

 *    Example - Oh, just go away! I have no more time for you.

36)  Deal with.

 *    Meaning - To take action to do something, especially to solve a problem.

 *    Example - You will have to deal with this problem anyway. You can't escape it.

37)  Take off.

 *    Meaning - To remove clothes, shoes etc.

 *    Example - Take off your shoes, please. I've just cleaned the floor.

38)  Go on.

 *    Meaning - To happen or to continue to happen.

 *    Example - I liked the play but I throught it went on for too long.

39)  Pick up.

 *    Meaning - To lift something or somebody or to get something from somewhere. ( e.g., a newspaper from a newsagent's )

 *    Example - He picked his daughter up and carried her to the car.

40)  Get in, Get into, Come in, Come into, Go into.

 *    Meaning - To enter a place, e.g., a car, a house or a room.

 *    Example - Oh, It's you! Come into and sit down.

41)  Go out.

 *    Meaning - To leave a place, especially your house and go somewhere to enjoy yourself.

 *    Example - She is a sociable person. She goes out with her friends all the time.

42)  Turn off.

 *    Meaning - To stop something ( e.g., water from flowing, a T.V. from working, gas from flowing )

 *    Example - Turn off that horrible music!

43)  Stay in.

 *    Meaning - To spend time at home rather than go out.

 *    Example - In the evening I usually stay in and read or watch the telly. I have nobody to go out with.

44)  Put on.

 *    Meaning - To put clothes onto your body or cream, make - up, etc. on your face.

 *    Example - Put on your coat ! it's getting cold.

45)  Get out.

 *    Meaning - To leave or escape from a place, or to help somebody to do this.

 *    Example - He got angry and told me to get out.
