Greetings of the Day

               As something to say to someone as a greeting neither or these is usual. You may occasionally hear 'Greetings!' but it's generally used slightly humorously or hypebolically (i.e.in a deliberately exaggerated way). As to what people do say, well, there are a lot of options and many regional (as well as national) variations. A few, randomly selected, some informal some less so:

              Hi!, Hi there!, Hello!, How do?, Good day, or more commonly, Good morning, Good afternoon, or Good evening, [But not Good night] or, in Australia- 'G'day. These are sometimes abbreviated in informal situations, i.e Morning!, Afternoon! etc; How are things?, How are you?, How's tricks?, Alright?, Howdy! Among the younger generation you'll hear things like what's up?, sup, Hey!.

            It's the first word you learn in any new language, the basic sign of welcome that shows your intent to talk to someone. Most likely, you learned the basic English greetings before you even started investing time in your language skills. But if you want to make the most of your first impression, there are a ton of more colourful ways to say "Hello".

             These formal ways of greeting people are used at diffrent times of the day. Whether you speak with a regular customer, colleagues or new neighbors, these phrases are effective to start the ball rolling. The greetings change depending on the time of the day. For example, "Good morning" is generally used from 5:00 a.m. To 12:00 p.m. Where as "Good afternoon" is appropriate for a period from 12:00 p.m. To 6:00 p.m. "Good evening" is often used after 6:00 p.m. Or when the sun goes down. Keep in mind that "Good night" is not a solutation. In fornal communication, it is used to say Goodbye.


* GOOD MORNING *

            How to say 'Good morning' in diffrent ways? When speaking in the English language, there are usually a variety of a ways in which you can say most things. one such thing is greeting someone with the phrase 'Good morning'. this is the most common thing to say to someone at the start of the day, there are other things you might say in it's place. In this article, we are going to take a look at some of these alternative ways you can say good morning.

1)   "Rise and shine!" - [This is usually said when you are in the process of waking someone from sleep"]

      * "Wake up, sleepyhead! Rise and shine!"

2)   "Top of the morning to you!" or "Top of the mornin' to ya!" - [This phrase originated in Ireland, which is a predominantly English speaking country, However, it is now widely used in many other English speaking countries as a quicky way to say 'Good morning'.]

3)   "Good day to you. It's a positive delight to see you!"

4)   "It's your day, Have a great day!"

5)   "It's sleeping beauty!"

6)   "Happy day of the week!"

7)   "Wishing you the best for the day ahead!"

    * "Hey, jack! Wishing you the best for the day ahead! choose your day to be the best today!

8)   "How are you this fine morning?"

    * "Hi, Johnny! How are you this fine morning?"

9)   "It's tomorrow!"

10)  "Good morning good looking!"

11)  "Isn't it a beautiful day today!" - [This phrase is often said when morning greetings are exchanged between two passers by.]

12)  "Wakey wakey!" or "Wakey wakey, sleepyhead!" - [This is a term which you might send in a text message or as a gentle way to wake a person.]

     * "Wakey wakey, sleepy! The sun is beginning to shine! What a lovely summer day!"

13)  "Let's make it a good one!"

14)  "Wakey wakey, eggs and bakey!" - [This term is popular in the USA and is used when waking someone up, announcing breakfast time.]

    * "Wake up, sleepyhead! Do you want some breakfast?"

15)  "Look alive!" (popular British phrase) - [This is used when a person is taking a long time to get prepared in the morning]

     * "Look alive! You'll miss the bus."

     * "Look alive! We haven't got all day"

16)  "Look at what the cat dragged in!" - [This humorous phrase is an informal way of greeting a close friend or family member and as a way of telling them that they're not looking so great this morning]

17)  "What a pleasant morning we are having"

18)  "Good morning, sleeping beauty!"

19)  "Hey sunshine, it's a morning time. Let's make this day awsome"

20)  "Hey! Good morning Dew Drops"

21)  "Hey! Good morning it's a miracle day"

22)  "Hey! sleepy eyes, it's time to rise and shine"

23)  "Wake up and have a fantastic day!"

24)  "When I told you to dream big, I didn't mean for you to sleep all day! Wake up and have fantastic day!"

25)  "Mornings wouldn't be such a struggle if they were in the afternoon. Hope you have a wonderful day!"

26)  "Wake up sunshine! It's the start of a whole new day! The sun is shining and the birds are singing, I guess you should get up. Have a super good day!"

27)  "Have a wonderful morning!"

28)  "Have a positive attitude and a great day!"


* GOOD AFTERNOON *

             People most always like it when you say "Good afternoon" to them. It is a day brightener! The smile that creeps across the face of a friend, coworker, or relative when you say it is priceless. After half a day of hardwork, expressing the sentiment to a friend can be a real pick-me-up. There are many ways to wish a good afternoon. You can say something simple like, "Have a good afternoon" or more detailed like, "wishing you a good afternoon filled with relaxation."

1)   "Thinking of you today - have a good afternoon!"

2)   "Have a good afternoon and a great day!"

3)   "I'm always thinking about you. Have a great afternoon."

4)   "You are as bright as the afternoon sun."

5)   "Have an awesome afternoon! Thank you for sharing a piece of your heart."

6)   "Wishing you a splendid afternoon my one and only!"

7)   "Good afternoon, you are as beautiful as this day!"

8)   "The afternoon is when the day starts to slow down. Enjoy yourself."

9)   "This afternoon is a beauty, Just like you. You're a peach!"

10)  "A wish for a wonderful afternoon for you and yours!"

11)  "May this afternoon bring you delightful surprises."

12)  "Wishing you a happy day and a fabulous afternoon!"

* GOOD NIGHT *

1)   "Nighty-Night!" - [Is a "say nothing" way to say good night used often with children when parents are in a hurry to get them into bed]

2)   "Sweet dreams!" - [Nice to say used primarily with adults]

3)   "Sleep well"

4)   "Have a good sleep" - [A nice thing to say. A bit antiquated.]

5)   "Go to bed, you sleepy head!" - [Usually used with children, but can be used with any age. used when someone isn't going to bed, or needed to go to bed a while ago, but keeps putting it off. If someone keeps getting up out of bed, or is falling asleep in their chair, we say, "Go to bed, sleepyhead]

6)   "Time to ride the rainbow to dreamland!"

7)   "Goodnight, the little love of my life"

8)  "Night Night" - [Is a "say nothing" way to say 'Good night' Used often with children when parents are in a hurry to get them into bed]

9)  "Lights out!" - [Usually used with children and teenagers. If the household rule is to allow a few minutes of time to talk or read before having to go to sleep, the adult comes in and announces, "Lights out!"]

10) "See ya' in the mornin'! "

11) "I'll be right here in the morning"

12) "I'll be dreaming of you!" - [With a child, used lightly as token of affection. With a lover, used to signify devotion]

13) "Dream about me!" - [How it is used depends on tone. Can even be used between friends if said jokingly]

14) "Sleep tight" - [A nice thing to say. The common reply is "Thanks" or "Ok"]

15) "I'll be dreaming of your face!"

16) "I Love you to the stars and back!" - [Primarily family members]

17) "I'll dream of you tonight and see you tomorrow"

18) "Sleep snug as a bug in a rug" - [Used with humor]

19) "I have an urgent appointment with a bed and pillow"
